Kathryn Sauer was born August 28, 1877, in Hays, Kansas, and departed her life April 19, 1950, at the age of 72 years, 7 months and 22 days. She was the daughter of John and Dorothy Wassinger.
She was united in marriage to John Sauer on November 24, 1896, in the Saint Francis church at Hays. They lived on a farm east of Antonina, Kansas, until 1915, when they moved to Ness county, settling 10 1/2 miles south and one mile west of Bazine. To this union were born 14 children. One preceded her in death, Jacob, who died in infancy.
She was a devoted wife and loving mother. Her whole life was one of sacrifice and devotion to her family. She was loved by all who knew her.
She leaves to mourn her passing her children, Mrs. Vincent Gassman, Mrs. Barbara Pfannenstiel, and George Sauer, all of Ness City; Ludwina Sauer and John Sauer of Wichita; Albert Sauer of Coffeyville; Bill Sauer and Charles Sauer of California; Mrs. Roy Kershner of Sanford; Vincent Sauer of Dodge City; Mrs. H. E. Fox of Jetmore; and Mary Ann Sauer and Wendell Sauer of the home. She is also survived by 40 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, five sisters, one brother, and a host of other relatives and friends.

The husband passed away a few years ago.
Funeral arrangements had not been completed on Wednesday evening, but services probably will be held either Friday or Saturday morning from the Catholic mission church south of Bazine.
