Winthrop-Funeral services were conducted in St.Patrick's Church; Brasher Falls, Saturday, Oct. 16 for Mrs. Martha Deshane, 71 of Winthrop, with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Herbert H Hannan, pastor officiating. Burial was made in Bixby cemetery, Norfolk.
Mrs. Deshane, widow of Robert Deshane Sr., died Oct. 14 in Potsdam hospital, where she had been a patient since June 24. She had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Robert Kelly, Winthrop, for the past five years.
Mrs. Deshane was bon in Massena Feb. 1, 1894, a daughter of George and Josephine Clark Jandreau. She was married to Carlos Martin in 1910. He died in 1919. On Spt. 3, 1920 she was married to Robert Deshane in Norfolk. He died in 1950. The couple lived in Norfolk during his lifetime.
Mrs. Deshane is survived by four sons, Cecil R., Spec/4 in the Army, stationed in Texas; Alex Deshane, Norwood; Francis Deshane, Lisbon; and Peter Deshane, Pierrepont; a step-son, Robert J Deshane, Norfolk; six daughters, Mrs. Bert(Lillian) Deshane, Waddington; Mrs. Robert (Veva) Kelly, Winthrop; Mrs. Walter (Georgina) Moody, Norfolk; Mrs. Clifford (Susie) Smith, Norfolk; Mrs. Kenneth(Margaret) Ward, Winthrop; and Mrs. Simeon(Elsie)Arquitte, Waddington; two sisters, Mrs. Susie Harrington, Springfield, Mass.; and Mrs. Edward(Lottie)Curtis, Bangor; a brother Frank Jandreau, Knapps Station; 43 grandchildren, and 46 great-grandchildren.
Martha and Carlos also had a daughter Caroline M Martin B. 1828/1917 in Reynoldston, Franklin Co. NY and D. 9/16/1918 in Yaleville, St. Lawrence, NY at their home of Cholera.
