Nettie spent her childhood on Buck Mt., in Mendocino County, North of Covelo. She attended the old Buck Mt. School. She worked as a cooks helper at the Indian Boarding School in Covelo as a young girl and later worked at the State Hospital at Talmage until she married in 1911.
She spent the rest of her life being a wonderful wife of Charles Ciancio, mother of Don and Virginia and grandmother of Chuck and Annette Ciancio and Leslie Sturdy. She lived near the highway in Redwood Valley until the freeway took her home. Her last years were spent in Southern California with her daughter Virginia and her family.
