Nathan wasn't in the 1850 Census, but in 1860 he was age 30 living with his brother-in-law and sister Ambrose and Marie Biddle in Bethlehem Townshiop, Stark County, OH.
On February 1862 Pvt. Nathan Eckrode, Age 32 enlisted in Company E of the 61st Ohio Volunteer Infantry regiment for a period of three years. This Regiment was organized in March, April May of 1862. On 31st of March 1865 it was consolidated with the 82nd Regiment.
Nathan Eckroat(Eckrode) is memorialized with other members of his Company and Regiment in Union Lawn Cemetery, Bethlehem Townshipo,. Stark County, Ohio (Cemetery Inscriptions, Stark County, Ohio, Vol. II, Ohio Genealogical Society, 1st July, 1982, page 306). Details and his service record should be obtainable from the National Archives and Records Service, General Services Administraition, Washington, D.C., 20408. He died on 18th of Jan. 1881 aged 50 Years. (St. Clements Catholic Church Death and Burial Registers).
There seems to be no evidence that Nathan ever married or left children.
