Wife of Ambrose Biddle

She was married by Reverend Heima to Ambrose Biddle born 1809 in Ringsheimen, Baden Germany, son of Martin and Bridget Biddle. He died on the 28th of January 1868 and Maria died on February 4th 1899. Both are buried in St. Clements's Cemetery, Navarre, Ohio, Row #4. In August 1847 Ambrose was granted power of attorney by his brother and sister-in-law, Daniel Helm and Elizabeth in Iowa to "rent, lease, or sell" their undivided 1/9 part of Elizabeth's father estate.

In the 1850 and 1860 Census and St. Clement's Catholic Church Records show they had

1. Mary Ann Biddle born November 6th 1844, baptized March 4th 1840

2. John A. Biddle born November 22nd, 1841. He married Elizabeth McCormick. John A. Biddle died in 1926.

3. Catharine Biddle born 1844

4. Henry Biddle born 1846, died 1925, married Jane (Agnes)

5. James Biddle born 1848/1849

6. Rebecca Biddle born January 17th 1852

7 William Franklin Biddle born May 3rd 1854, died 1936.

In 1860 Ambrose Biddle's mother mother, Bridget aged 83 was living with Ambrose. Maria's brother Nathan Eckrode/Eckroate was also living with them at that time. According to an 1875 ownership map of Bethlehem Township, the Ambrose Biddle estate was located in Bethlehem Township in the Northeast quarter of Section 16 on the east side of the Tuscarawas river.
