Husband of Elizabeth ___?Uln?

Please note: It is not to be confused with the Christian Eckroth who married Eleanor (Ireley)

Christian Eckenroth 4 (Christian(3),John Peter(2),Johannes(1) was born in January 1789, the second child of Christian (3) and his eldest son by his second wife Mary Magdalen born Schlosser (Goshenhoppen Registrars, page 141; "Records",Vol. 8, page 349). He resided with his father in Dauphin Co. in 1790 and Mifflin Twp, Northumberland County (In 1813 became part of Columbia County) in 1800 and 1810. About 1811 he married Elizabeth___ Uln?, born 1789, whose maiden name and parentage have not yet been discovered. (Possible name "Uln" or "Ohln". (WK-book, pages 156 C.)

Please note: It could be also the possiblity of,"Elizabeth Kreitz"). (LDS File #955162, page 681 and page 160).

Please note to the above suggestion of the possible wife of Christian(4): Elizabeth Kreitz married a IMRODE suggesting it may be that of "Ikrode or Eckenrode" This family of Kreitz also moved to Ohio in Fairfield.

On 1st February 1813, Christian (4) joined with his brother, Peter (4), in purchasing 212 1/2 acres (plus 6% allowance for roads etc.) of land in Mifflin Township, adjoining Ullery (Ulrich) Michael, Simon Koil (Coul or "Caul"?), George Blank and others, from Christian Kunckel, one of the sons, executors and heirs of John Kunckle late of Philadelphia (Columbia County Deed Book 4, page 95; LDS File #955162, page 7). (WK-book, page 156)

In November 1817 Christian(4's) father, Christian(3);died and Christian (4) was named as Executor of his father's estate. He received a bequest from his father of one half of the 140 acre home farm of his father. (WK-book,page 156)

In January 1819 Christian(4)sold and released his interest in and title to approximately 180 acres of the Kunckel purchase to his brother Peter(4) who with his wife on 20th April 1826 sold to their neighbor Ulrich Michael. (Columbia County, Deed Book 4, page 95, LDS file #955162, page 578). (WK-book, page 156)

In November-December 1818 Peter Eckroth(3), son of George Eckroth(2) and 2nd cousin of Christian Eckenroth(4),died in Lynn Twp., Lehigh County(until 1813 part of Northampton County). In his will (Lehigh County Probate File#285), Peter Eckroth(3) states that his wife Rosina (Rose Anna) and children are to move and live on the land purchased/ to be purchased for him on or near the Susquehanna (river) by Christian Eckenroth(4). (WK-book, page 156)

On 14th May 1819 Christian Eckenroth(4) purchased about 100 acres from George Rinehart(Rheinhard)adjoing John Nuncaster (Nungesser) Joseph Schlosser, Christian Henry and Thomas Bellas. On 8th May 1820 Christian(4) and his wife, Elizabeth, conveyed this 100 acres to "Polly,Leah, Anna and Harrata (Eckroth)or Eckroat, heirs of Peter(3) Eckroth, deceased". (Columbia County Deed Book 3, page 224). (WK-book, page 156)

Please Note the possible relation to Eckenroth and Eckroth that:

Peter(3)Eckroth,George(2)Eckroth,John H. Eckroth(1)brn.1721

And that Christian(4)Eckenroth's family line is:

Christian Eckenroth(4),Christian(3),John Peter(2),John Peter Ickerodt (1) born 1700.

Please note: It could be possible that Joannes Peterus Eckerodt brn. 1700 may be the 1st generation. Further research needed.

It may be significant that this tract of land had been conveyed to George Rinehart on 26th December 1817 by Christian Henrich who had owned it since 26th May 1816. Christian Henrich (died December 1817-May 1820)and was the step-father of the Children of George Eckroth(2)and the 2nd-wife of Christian Henrich Jr.;Anna Mary born Neyer or(Moyer/Meyer)also spelled(Neuer) by 1807 and recorded on 31st July 1808. (GR, page 207; "Records", Vol. 11, page 199. (WK-Book, page 157)

Christian(4)Eckenroth's sister; Mary(4)Eckenroth and Margaretha Rebecca "Peggy"(4)Eckenroth had married their second cousins, John(3)Eckroth and Daniel(3)Eckroth; the sons of George(2)Eckroth.

Mary(4)Eckenroth and Margaretha Rebecca "Peggy"(4)Eckenroth had received a bequest from their father of 50 acres each, and Mary's husband, John, had received a bequest of 50 acres. These tracts of land adjoined each other-i.e. Daniel, John, and Mary and also adjoined that of Charles(3)Eckroth brother of Daniel(3)Eckroth and John(3)Eckroth. (WK-book page 157)

On 15th November 1823 John and Mary had sold off a portion of their land adjoining Daniel's land to Jacob Nude (LDS File #955162. page 42). (WK-book page 157)

On 8th December 1830, in preparation for their move to Ohio, John (and Mary) and Margaretha Rebecca"Peggy(4)born Eckenroth"(and Daniel Eckroth(3)) sold their property "adjoining Charles Eckroth" to Christian(4)Eckenroth and wife, Elizabeth Eckenroth born (unknown possiblity,"Elizabeth Kreitz"). (LDS File #955162, page 681 and page 160). (WK-book page 157)

Please note to the above suggestion of the possible wife of Christian(4): Elizabeth Kreitz married a IMRODE suggesting it may be that of "Ikrode or Eckenrode" This family of Kreitz also moved to Ohio in Fairfield.

In 1831 Margaret Rebecca "Peggy"(4)born Eckenroth and Daniel(3)Eckroth(Eckroat) had moved to Bethlehem Township, Stark County, Ohio where their daughter Elizabeth was born in 1831,(1850 Census). They were probably accompanied by Mary and John and their family. (WK-book page 157)

(LDS File #897622, Stark County, Ohio Marriage Records Book A, page 281: 1850 Census). Christian(4)Eckenroth was accompanied by his own family and that of his recently married (about 1831)and son Joseph(5)Eckenroth (1840 Census, Ohio; 1850 Census, Indiana). (WK-book, page 157)

On 11th May 1837, Christian (4)Eckenroth, now living in Bethlehem Township, Stark County, Ohio; sold the land back in Mifflin Township, Columbia Co, PA which he had purchased on 8th December 1830 from John and Mary and Daniel and Margaret Rebecca(4) "Peggy"now Eckroth born Eckenroth; to Christian(4)Eckenroth's second cousin Christian(3)Eckroth and his wife Elinor born Ireley(Son of George(2)Eckroth) (LDS File #955162, pages 160 and 681). (WK-book 157)

When Hiram Eckroth(Eckroat) died in 1847, Levi Eckroth(Eckroat), son of Christian Eckroth, married his widow on 29th September 1850 and raised Hiram's Children with his own. Peter Bowman may have been a son-in-law of Christian Eckroth and Elinor born Ireley (1850 Census, Mifflin Township, Columbia County, PA, Pages 256-257. (WK-pages 157-158)

Christian(4)Eckenroth and Elizabeth lived on the West Bank of the Tuscarawas River, 2.45 miles south by souteast of Navarre and 1/2 mile North of the town of Rocket. Chrstian(4)Eckenroth probably purchased the land there shortly after his arrival about 1843. The earliest deed shows that he purchased 74.5 acres from John McLean located in "2 fractional sections) numbered 15 and 22 in Twp 9, Range 9" (WK-book, page 158)

Probate record show that Christian(4)Eckenroth owned the northeast quarter of Section 21 (160 acres) as well as the 74.5 acres- at total of 222.5 to 234.5 acres (Book Z, pages 703-707. (WK-book, page 158)

Please note: The nine children of Christian (4) and Elizabeth who survived their parents were:

1. Joseph Eckroate (5)
2. Maria Eckroate (5)
3. Elizabeth Eckroate (5)
4. Catharine Eckroate (5)
5. Margaret Rebecca Eckroate (5) also called Rebecca, in the decree of partition and in the St. Clement's Catholic Church death records, the daughter of Christian (4), died on January 11, 1854, aged 25 years. on May 14, 1851, she had been assigned a guardian- Tobias B. Kindig and John Eckrod, Jr., her cousin, to handle her affairs ince she was judged incompetent to do so (LDS File #875609, A-136). Tobias B Kindig rendered two accounts to the Stark County Probate court- one on July 11, 1853 and one on March 17, 1854. In his second account, he named the heirs of Margaret- her brothers and sisters. (WK-book, page 160)
6. Levi Eckroate (5)
7. Nathan Eckroate (5)
8. Henry Eckroate (5)
9. Lydia Eckroate (5)
Each of these children inherited about 20 acres of land from their father's estate. The position of their tracts relative to each other and to Elizabeth's "widows dower"' has been determined from the Decree of Partition, Book Z, pages 703-707 and is shown in the maps and drawings in the Annex. Additional details concerning land transactions are derived from the first account of Tobias B. Kindig as guardian for Margaret and sales by Levi and Nathan already cited. (WK-book, page 160)

It is evident from the credits of Mr. Kindig's first account (1 July 1853) 1) That Margaret (5) sold her land to her cousin Stephen Eckrode on 1 October 1848; and, 2) that the lands of widow Elizabeth Eckrode were sold by the Sheriff of Stark County probably after her death- part to G.N. Webb, part to Francis Miller, and part to Stephen Eckrode (Son of Daniel (3), George (2), John (1) (WK-book, page 161)
