She worked for New England Tel & Tel as an operator for several years. She also worked for Boston Jewelers. During her life, she was a librarian at the Dyer Library in Saco for over 20 years, retiring in 1988.
She enjoyed reading, cooking, music, her grandchildren and walking Okd Orchard Beach. One of her hobbies was the piano.
She met her husband, Richard, at the Pier dance hall in 1941 and they were married in 1945.
She was known for her great sense of humor and cheerfulness.
She was predeceased by her parents and brothers Clayton, Arthur, Wallace Jr., sister, Hazel Rogers.
Surviving are, her husband Richard, two sons, Phillip of Scarboro and Stanley of Bar Harbor, and daughter Cynthia Stevens of Old Orchard Beach and seven grandchildren. Also, surviving are brothers Earl of Biddeford, Donald of California, Herbert of Old Orchard Beach, Leroy of El Paso, Texas and Paul of North Waterboro ;sisters Mildred Danis of Arundel, Gladys Simpson and Arlene Coburn of Saco, June Michel of Florida and Doris Kemp of Dayton, Ohio.
Her funeral service was at the Dennett, Craig and Pate Funeral Home with internment following in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco, ME with Rev. Burton Howe officiating.
