FORTY YEARS A PREACHER
After forty years, in the ministry Rev. Nicholas Lasher died at his home in Washington Township on Thursday afternoon, January 23, 1913, at 1:30 o'clock in the 76th year of his age. He was born a quarter of a mile from where he died and had lived there all his life. Forty years he was an active pastor of the Brethren in Christ denomination. He is survived by his wife and the following children; Jacob and Lewis of Washington Township; Mrs. R.B. Bowser, of Bolivar, Pa.; Mrs. T.G. McCullough, and J.S. of Verona; Mrs. A. R. Edwards, of Dayton; J.J., of Kittanning; Mrs. Homer McCoy, of Marietta, Ohio; Mrs. W.H. Stivason, of Wilson, Pa. Three children are dead. His wife's maiden name was Miss Margaret Toy, daughter of Rev. James Toy. Funeral services will be held at the Limestone church on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock.

The Rev. Nicholas Lasher
LEECHBURG, PA., Jan. 24. – The Rev. Nicholas Lasher, aged 75, a retired minister of the Brethren in Christ denomination, died in his home in Washington township, near here, this morning. He was born near here and resided in the vicinity all his life. He joined the Brethren in Christ when a young man and for 40 years was a preacher in that faith. Most of his pastorate was spent at the Limestone Church, near here. Rev. Lasher married Miss Margaret Toy, a daughter of the Rev. James Toy. He leaves his widow and the following children: J.S. Lasher of Verona, Jacob and Louis Lasher of Washington township, J.J. Lasher of Kittanning, Mrs. R.B. Bowser of Bolivar, Pa.; Mrs. T.T. McCullough of Verona, Mrs. E.R. Edwards of Dayton, Mrs. Homer McCoy of Marietta, O.; Mrs. W.H. Stivason of Wilson, Pa.

Rev. Nicholas Lasher, was a conspicuous and worthy son of this large family in Armstrong County. Mr. Lasher during the weekdays devoted his energies to the forge or the farm; and on Sunday's gave his service to the "Shoemaker Church," as it is known locally at his home near Montgomeryville, Pa.
