HARLAN DUCKWORTH DIED LAST FRIDAY
Harlan Duckworth, a resident of the St. James area most of his life and a well-known livestock farmer, died last Friday, January 23. He was 79 years of age.
Harlan Wright Duckworth was born February 11, 1890 at Russell, Iowa, the son of the late Oliver and Anna Duckworth.
Survivors include his wife Hazel; six sons, Nile Duckworth of North Platte, Nebraska, Raymond Duckworth of San Diego, California, Leland Duckworth, Ralph Duckworth, Kenneth Duckworth and Robert Duckworth, all of St. James; five daughters, Thelma Carroll, Marie Duckworth and Phyllis White, all of St. James, Irene Hughes of St. Louis and Dena Cole of San Diego, California; two brothers and three sisters; 31 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
One son Wayne and one daughter Lucille preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, January 26, at the Jesse Gahr Funeral Home with Rev. Clifford Frey officiating. Corrine Stumpf and Ward Wood sang sacred hymns accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Alex Pompe, Jr.
Pallbearers were John Bullock, Dawson Bullock, Frank Meurer, George Webster, Eugene Moreland and Everett Bullock.
Interment was in the Masonic Cemetery with arrangements by the Jesse Gahr Funeral Directors.
