FLORA E. SANBORN
Flora Emmaline, daughter of Oliver and Anna Duckworth, was born in Russell, Iowa, April 24, 1885, and passed quietly away Dec. 7th, 1949, after a brief illness at the home of her sister, Bonnie Baughman. She was 64 years of age.
She spent most of her life in Lucas county and attended the Russell and rural schools of the county. She received her Teachers Certificate at the Blackburn Seminary and taught for a time in the country schools. As a young girl she became a member of the United Brethren church and received many joys through the ensuing years.
She was united in marriage to Bert E. Sanborn, who preceded her in death by two years. To this union four children were born, Louise Huff, of Waterloo; Clyde of Bremen, Ind.; Joe, of the U.S. Navy, stationed in Rhode Island, and Jubal, of Chariton. There are 16 grandchildren.
Flora was one of a family of 13 children, having seven brothers and five sisters. Three brothers preceded her in death, Fred, Ray and Don. Besides the children and grandchildren, there remain five sisters, Mrs. Carrie Poush, Mrs. Bonnie Baughman and Mrs. Fannie Dukes, all of Chariton; Artie, of Alliance, Neb., Ruth of Seattle, Wash., and four brothers, Paul, of Seattle, Wash., Joe, on the West Coast, Nelson of Denver, Colo., and Harley of Missouri. There are also many other relatives and friends.
Final rites were held Friday, Dec. 9, at the Miley Funeral home at 2 p.m. The Rev. Archie Beals in charge. Burial was made in the Chariton cemetery.
