POUSH - Carrie Landes Duckworth Poush, daughter of Oliver and Annie Goltry Duckworth, was born March 6, 1888, in Broken Bow, Neb., and passed away at the Lucas County Memorial Hospital on Nov. 25, 1970 at the age of 82 years.
She came to Lucas County at the age of 2 and spent the remainder of her life in this area with the exception of 11 years spent in Marion County, when she married Harry Poush on April 25, 1909 and lived near Newbern. Four children came to bless their home: Loren, Cleo, Jessie and Carlos.
Carrie accepted Christ as her Lord and Saviour in December, 1907, in the Baptist Church in Russell, and united with the United Brethren Church in Chariton, later transferring her membership to the First Baptist Church in Chariton in May, 1926.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; one son, Carlos; one daughter, Jessie, who passed away one week ago on Nov. 20, 1970, being buried in the Chariton Cemetery at the time of her mother's passing; seven brothers and sisters.
Surviving are two children; Loren B. Poush of Arlington, Va., and Mrs. Cleo B. Trecker of Halbur, 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Artie Atkinson of Coquille, Ore.; Mrs. Bonnie Baughman of Chariton; and Mrs. Ruth Alexander of Seattle, Wash.; two brothers, Nelson Duckworth of Denver, Colo.; and Paul Duckworth of Santa Rosa, Calif.; along with many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. J. Edward Quick at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 27, 1970, at the Beardsley-Fielding Funeral Home. Interment was in the Chariton Cemetery.
