Lizzie Bell Burton
Lizzie Bell Burton, age 92, Rogersville died Wednesday, September 17, 2003 at Wellmont Hawkins County Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.
She was a life long resident of Hawkins County. She was a member of New Life Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark H. Burton; parents, Moses and Paralee Willis Helton; daughter, Dorothy Ruth Burton; sons, Rev. Gale Burton and Ray Burton; grandsons, Jimmy Martin Holt, Kenneth Burton, Benny Helton, Jr. and Brandon Stout; step-daughter, Ida Helton; step-son, Earl Burton; a sister; six brothers.
She is survived by seven daughters, Cecile V. Holt and husband, Jim, Monie Jones and husband, Ronald, both of Rogersville, Mildred Williams and husband, Frank, Bulls Gap, Elizabeth Helton, Haines City, FL, Mary Evelyn Stout and husband, Bob, Elizabethton, Helen Didonato and husband, Pete, Sr. and Jean Barnard, both of Mooresburg; a son, Luther Burton and wife, Thelma, Lenoir, NC; a step-daughter, Nellie Helton, Kingsport; 27 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 6-9 p.m., Friday, September 19, 2003 at Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 20, 2003 at New Life Missionary Baptist Church with Revs. David Rutherford and Carroll Jarnigan officiating.
Burial will follow in the New Life Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville was in charge of arrangements.
