OBITUARY: Charles Herbert Bird

Springhill - Charles Herbert Bird, 70, of 102 Junction Road, Springhill,
died Thursday in Civic Hospital.

Born in Southampton, he was a son of the late Wesley and Florence (Brown)
Bird.

Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret Christina Chambers; eight sons,
Charles and William, both of Springhill; James, Moose Jaw, Sask.; Richard,
Kingston, Ont.; John, Hamilton; Joseph, Vancouver; Larry, Oxford; and David,
at home; six daughters, Mrs. Sylvia Embree, Bessie (Mrs. Alfie Quinn), Nancy
(Mrs. Carl Dunphy) and Rebecca, all of Springhill; Rosie, Halifax; Joan,
Amherst; two brothers, Stanley, Little Forks; Harold, Oxford; four sisters,
Mrs. Juanita Budd of Amherst; Sylvia (Mrs. Maurice Burkett), Clementsport;
Mrs. Margaret Hannah, Bear River; Doris (Mrs. Audrice LeBlanc), Springhill;
24 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Ray; a daughter, Mary; two sisters, Minerva and
Henrietta; four brothers, Carmen, Jimmie, Lorne and Wilfred; and one
grandson.

The body is in A.H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill, where funeral will be 2
p.m. Saturday, Rev. Douglas Chard officiating, with burial in Mapleton
Cemetery.
