HAROLD A. COOK SUCCUMBS TO HEART ATTACK

Funeral services honoring Harold Albert Cook, 77, who died December 31 of a heart attack, were held in the Davis Ward Chapel January 3. Bishop Arden W. Stewart officiated.

Family prayer at the mortuary was given by Nelden Slaugh. Janet Smuin played the prelude and plstlude music. The first musical was "How Great Thou Art" by John Dickey. He was accompanied by Gwen Williams.

Invocation was pronounced by Daryl Cook, a grandson of the deceased. Bishop Stewart gave the opening remarks, followed by a musical, "These Hands," by Daun White. She was accompanied by Tex Ross on the guitar. Bishop Marvin Jackson spoke on the life of Mr. Cook. Donna Wardell sang, "Lay My Head Beneath a Rose." She was accompanied by Ruth Jones. The concluding speaker was Bishop Ross Merrill. Gaila Holmes and Diane Colthrope sang the concluding song, "Whispering Hope," They were accompanied by Alice Abplanalp. Earl Slaugh pronounced benediction.

Frank Johnson dedicated the grave in the Vernal Memorial Park. Pallbearers were sons of the deceased, Clifton, Glen, Galde, Shirley, Dall and Ned Cook. The Davis Ward Relief Society was in charge of the flowers.

Guests attending from out-of-town were Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bird, Bucado, Washington; the Donald Carpenter family, Denver; the Jack and Arnold Cook families, Roosevelt and other friends and relatives.

Mr. Cook was born February 15, 1898 in Vernal to John D. Cook and Agnes Nuttall Cook. He married Cora Eliza Slaugh November 19, 1917 in Vernal. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died December 15, 1969.

Mr. Cook was a rancher and farmer. He was a member of the LDS Church, residing in Davis Ward.

Survivors are six sons and six daughters: Clifton A., Glade B., Glen H., Shirley D., Dall G. and Ned G., all of Vernal; Mrs. Cecil (Bulia) Pummell, Mrs. Dave (Raie) Clark, Mrs. Garn (Vergie) Swain, Mrs. Ray (Devona) Irwin, all of Vernal; Mrs. Jim (Onie) Bird, Bucado, Washington; Mrs. Don (Nadean) Carpenter, Denver; 48 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, three brothers and one sister, Robert Cook, all of Vernal and Mrs. Charles (LaPreal) Libbert, Moses Lake, Washington. One son, Verl Cook, preceded him in death.
