Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 29, 2012, at the Vernal 7th Ward Chapel, (Vernal Stake Center) 850 West 100 North. Viewing Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Blackburn - Thompson Mortuary, 15 East 100 North; & an hour prior to service at the Chapel, on Thursday. Burial will be in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery, 1241 North 3500 West.

Glen Harold Cook, age 82 of Vernal, Utah passed away at the Uintah Care Center on March 24, 2012.

He was born June 1, 1929 in Vernal to Harold Albert and Cora Eliza Slaugh Cook.

He was in the US Army and served honorably in the Korean War in the early 1950s. In 1966 he married his best friend Carolyn Bodily, whom he loved for 46 years.

Glen's lifetime profession was farming. He also worked in the oilfield, as a miner at American Gilsonite, and after retirement he worked as a water master.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in the Vernal Temple from 1997 to 2006. He later commented that it was the best calling he ever had. Glen lived life to the fullest and loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and farming. His family will always remember him as the life of the party.

He was very fun to joke with and always had time to play with his grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye. He was the patriarch of six children, 19 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.

Glen is survived by his wife; Carolyn, children; Ron (Diana) Cook, Renie (Gail) Herrmann, Lisa (Jeff) Ross, Nathan (Sabrina) Cook, Mark Cook, Dana (Dan) Bowden, and Amber (Victor) Lopez-Martinez, brothers; Glade (Laverta) Cook, Dall (Ellen) Cook, Ned (Connie) Cook, sisters; Bulia Pummell, Onie Byrd, and Devona Timothy, sisters-in-law; Amy and Bette Cook, 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Bud and Shirley Cook, sisters; Nadean Carpenter, Virgie Stark, and Raie Clark, and his grandson Cody Cook.

Services for Glen will be held Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Vernal 7th Ward LDS Chapel. Viewings will be held Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary and one hour prior to services at the chapel.

Burial will be in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Post 124 and 11 and the Utah Army National Guard. Services are entrusted to the care of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
