Mrs. Marie Plaster Short, age 87, of Richlands, VA passed away Friday January 15, 2021 at her home following a brief illness. Born at Swords Creek, VA she was the daughter of the late Charles and Martha Horton Plaster.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Emory Bradley Short; daughter Linda Faye Plaster; siblings Billy Plaster, Edward Plaster, Gertrude Woodrum, Edith Whited, Frances Winfrey, Ruth Mallory, Ruby Rasnake, Clinton Plaster, Russ Plaster, Dave Plaster and Judy Patton.

Marie worked at Eastern Isles Sewing factory for many years. She was a member of the Richlands Garden Club and Red Hat Society. She was a member of Raven Assembly of God then Richlands First Assembly were she loved working with the Ladies Groups and projects. She loved cooking for everyone and lived her life for her family, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved the Lord serving the Church and her community.

Marie is survived by one daughter Tammie Smith and husband Shannon of Richlands, VA; four granddaughters Mechelle Plaster of Richlands, Britney Smith Ham & husband Nathan of West Jefferson, NC, Savanna Smith Childress and husband Wendell of Richlands, VA\, Miranda Smith Selfe & husband Elijah of Richlands, VA; three great grandchildren Bradley Childress, Elias Selfe and Tondolaya Childress; one sister Jean White and husband Tolbert of Abingdon, VA; sister in law Peggy Plaster of Raven, VA; brother in law Jimmy Patton of Cedar Bluff, VA; best friend and sister of the heart Shirley Davis; many nieces, nephews and friends also survive.

The family will receive friends at the Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, VA after 3:00 P.M. Tuesday January 19, 2021 with funeral services to follow at 4:00 P.M. with Pastor Richard Smith and Pastor Stewart Farley officiating. Entombment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be Barry Patton, Mike Patton, Chuck Plaster, Wendell Childress, Nathan Ham and Elijah Selfe.
