Funeral services for Emma Schrader, 87, were held Thursday, April 29, 1999 at the Peace United Church of Christ, Monticello.
Interment was held at Oakwood Cemetery. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello was in charge of arrangements.
Emma Schrader died Monday, April 26,1999 in her home following a brief illness. Emma Johanna Bartels was born March 19,1912, in Wayne Township, Jones County, Iowa, the daughter of R. Herman and Elena Husmann Bartels. She received her early education in the rural schools and graduated from Monticello Community Schools in 1931. On February 9,1932, she married Otto Schneiter in Freeport, Ill. The couple farmed near Anamosa. He died Dec. 1, 1936.
Emma Bartels Schneiter married Irvill Smith on July 20,1939 in Dubuque. She was employed with the Button Factory in Monticello and also sold Avon products. He preceded her in death on Feb. 1957.
On Sept. 2, 1960, she married Louis Schrader at Peace United Church of Christ. The couple made their home near Sand Springs. He died on Nov. 17, 1977.
Survivors include four daughters, Donna Smith of Monticello, Bonnie (Charles) Holcomb of Columbia, Tenn., Rosemary (Daniel) Hasler of Pella, and June (Carl) Kraus of Worthington; three granddaughters, four grandsons and a great-grandson; a sister, Lee Arthofer of Dubuque and a sister-inlaw, Florence Bartels of Monticello.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, seven brothers and four sisters.
