Funeral services for Mrs. Herman Bartels, 67, who died Monday at 7 a.m. were held this afternoon in the St. Matthew's Lutheran church with Rev. H. L. Adix in charge. Burial took place in Wayne township cemetery. Mrs. Bartels had been bedfast, since June 2 and had been in failing health for four years. She is survived by her husband, a sister, Anna (Mrs. Herman Ricklefs) of Scotch Grove, a brother, Fred Husmann of Amber, 10 children and 22 grandchildren. The children are: Henry of Scotch Grove, Fred of Manchester, Gerd of Castle Grove township, William of Earlville, Anna (Mrs. Fred Lange) of Scotch Grove, Minnie (Mrs. Herman Herren) of Wayne township, Mary (Mrs. Silas Wright), Herman, Jr., Lena (Mrs. Arnold Marugg), and Mrs. Emma Schneiter, all of this place. Three children died in infancy. Mrs. Bartels' maiden name was Eline Wilhelmine Husmann. She was born December 21, 1870 in Wueppels, Oldenburg, Germany, and was married to Herman Bartels January 18, 1890 In Wayne township. They lived there until March 1924 when they moved to Monticello. She was highly respected by a large circle of friends and relatives
