Services for Minnie Herren, 90, were held July 20, at the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, Monticello, with burial in the Church Cemetery. Pastor Gary Hatcher officiated at the services.
Minnie Herren of Monticello died July 17 at the Senior Home, Monticello, from natural causes.
Minnie Bartels was born Feb 24, 1899 in Wayne Township, Jones County, IA, the daughter of Herman and Elena Husmann Bartels. She received her education in the rural schools of Wayne Township. Minnie later worked at John McDonald Hospital for several years.
Minnie Bartels and Herman Herren were married Jan 4, 1922 at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. The couple farmed in Wayne Township until 1948 when they moved to Monticello. Herman preceded her in death June 3, 1960. She continued to live in her home until a month prior to her death. Minnie was a member of Wayne Zion Lutheran Church where, in her younger years, was active in many church activities.
Survivors include a son, Herbert, of Monticello, three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two sisters, Emma Schrader of Monticello and Lee Arthofer of Dubuque. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and seven brothers and sisters.
Casket bearers were Chris Herren, Duane Timm; Jerry Welter, Glenn Chrystal, Marvin Eberhard and James Kraus.
