Sara A. Harriger, 93, formerly of Sligo RD 1, died at 9:40 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, in Beverly Healthcare in Clarion. Born Nov. 17, 1910, in Curllsville, she was the daughter of James E. and Jennie Hartman Shook. Mrs. Harriger was a homemaker and helped in the operation of the family farm. She was a member of the Licking-Cherry Run Presbyterian Church. She dedicated her life to her family and enjoyed traveling, sewing and crocheting. Mrs. Harriger was married Oct. 20, 1938, to RuDell G. Harriger, who preceded her in death on July 23, 1993. She is survived by a son, J. Duane Harriger and his wife, Lana, of Sligo; two daughters, Mrs. David (Carolyn) Williams of Parker and Mrs. Timothy (Gloria) Campbell of Moscow, Russia; and a daughter-in-law, Maxine Harriger of Sligo; 10 grandchildren, Leeann Whitaker of Baltimore, Md., Thomas Bickel of Hampstead, N.C., Tammy Zacherl of Shippenville, Michael Harriger of Sligo, Matthew Campbell of Beverly, Mass., Brad Harriger of Sligo, Emily Campbell of Chicago, Ill., Mark Harriger of Sligo, John Campbell of Monterey, Calif., and Timothy Campbell of Moscow, Russia; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary R. Harriger; a grandson, Steven Harriger; three sisters, Floy Bowersox, Bessie Howard and Blanche Wiant; and six brothers, Dale Shook, Ray Shook, Ernest Shook, Milford Shook, the Rev. Charles Shook and Kenneth Shook. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Varner Funeral Home in Sligo. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Moore, retired pastor of the Licking-Cherry Run Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Licking Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to the Clarion-Forest VNA hospice, Knox 16232 or a charity of one's choice. Derrick 1/3/2004.
