Was Born West of Edinburg on April 10, 1855 – Funeral Thursday

EDINBURG, Nov. 15 – Jesse Thatcher Coy, 77 years old, passed away Tuesday morning at 6:30 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ivy Wray.

He was born April 10, 1855 west of Edinburg, the son of Sam and Martha Anderson Coy. His entire life had been spent in the community where he was born. He was a member of the New Bethel Church.

In January, 1880, he was married to Miss Margaret Eveline Neville and to them six children were born. The wife and two children preceded him in death.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ivy Wray, Mrs. Eva Yoder and Mrs. Pearl Royce and one son, Wilbur Coy, all of Edinburg; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. William Milnes and Mrs. James Coffman of Edinburg and Mrs. G. H. Edwards of Rushville and four brothers, A. M. Coy, Robert Coy, S. W. Coy, and R. A. Coy all of Edinburg.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the New Bethel Church. Rev. Ray Bozzell will have charge of the service. Burial will be made in the church cemetery.

Funeral Services Thursday at New Bethel for Retired Johnson Farmer

Edinburg Nov. 15 -- Jesse Thatcher Coy, 77, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Iva Wray, near here at 6:30 this morning. He had been ill for several weeks.

Funeral services will be held from New Bethel Christian Church, Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Ray Bozzell will conduct the rites. Interment will take place in the church cemetery.

Mr. Coy was born on a farm west of Edinburg, April 10, 1855, and spent most of his life in the community where he was born, as a farmer. He retired a few years ago and moved to Edinburg where he resided until recently when he went to his daughter's home. He was married in January 1880, to Miss Margaret Eveline Neville and six children were born, four of whom survive. They are Mrs. Wray, Mrs. Effie Yoder, Mrs. Pearl Royce, and Wilbur A. Coy, all of Edinburg.

Other survivors are eight grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. William Milnes, Mrs. James Coffman, of Edinburg, and Mrs. H. G. Edwards of Rushville; four brothers, A. W. Coy, Robert Coy, S. W. Coy, and R. A. Coy.

He was a member of New Bethel Church for many years.

THATCHER COY DIED THIS MORNING AFTER LONG ILLNESS

Jesse Thatcher Coy, age seventy-seven, passed away at the home of his daugter Mrs. Green Wray, southwest of Edinburg, this morning at 6:30 o'clock. He was the son of Samuel and Martha Anderson Coy, born April 10, 1855. He lived in this community all his life, and was engaged in farming. He was a member of the New Bethel Christian Church, and member of the Nineveh K. of P. Lodge. The wife and two children, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

The surviving relatives are four children, Mrs. Effie Yoder, Mrs. Pearl Royce, Iva Wray and Wilbur Coy, all living west of town; eight grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Kate Milnes, Mrs. James Coffman, of Edinburg, and Mrs. G. H. Edwards of Rushville; four brothers, J. W. Coy, Robert E. Coy, S. W. Coy and R. A. Coy, all of this vicinity; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral rites in charge of the Rev. Ray Bozell will be held at the New Bethel Christian Church, Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock. Burial in New Bethel Cemetery.
