JIPSON, Mary D., 96 LOWELL - Mary D. Jipson, 96, died Aug. 14, 2001 at a Lincoln health-care facility. She was born in Lowell, July 3, 1905, the daughter of George and Azuba (Preble) Sibley. In 1923 she married Raymond Jipson. She raised a family of six children. She also took care of many elderly ladies over the years, including her mother-in-law. She worked hand-sewing shoes in factories in Burlington, Lincoln, Old Town and Bangor. Mary enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, and knitting mittens for all of her children and grandchildren every year for Christmas. She made quilts for her family. She belonged to the Grange, Ladies Aide and the Christmas Club. She is survived by one son, George Jipson and his wife, Lorraine of Lowell; two daughters, Pauline Richards and her husband, Gerald of Bradley, Patricia Shorey and her friend, Richard Wells of Lowell; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Jipson; a son-in-law, Donald Smart; 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grand-children and six great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Raymond Jipson in 1975; two sons, Orris in 1998 and Roger in 1999; one daughter, Joan in 1990; and a daughter-in-law, Ruth Jipson in 1995. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, at the Clay Funeral Home in Lincoln. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2001, at the funeral home with the Rev. Tom Bell officiating. Interment will be in Lowell Cemetery. Friends are invited to Escutarsis Grange Hall in Lowell after the committal service.
