By 1912, they had 10 living children, and by 1918, Dave, Mary and all but the eldest son had gone to Texas. Dave was a farmer all his life until he retired. In 1925 Dave and Mary bought three acres in Aldine Gardens, Harris county Texas, and built a retirement home where they lived the rest of their lives.
