Calvin was the youngest of eight children born to Leander and Lucady (Williams) Kivett. He married Louisa Lambert in 1875 and they were the parents of nine children: Mattie Sarah, William Rufus, Luther Solomon, Elsie V., Percy Lee, Pearl Clarence, Fleta Bell, Vester, Ottis Delma.

Funeral services over the remains of C. G. Kivett, 65 years of age, who died at his home, 810 Gregory street last night about 9 o'clock, although not definitely arranged, will probably be held tomorrow afternoon, pending the arrival of a son from Illinois. He died of heart failure. He was an employee of the Southern railway for many years.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. A. D. McMasters, of Greensboro; Mrs. C. A. Bivens, Pomona; four sons: L. S. and T. C. Kivett of Siler City; P. L. Kivett of West Frankfort, Ill., and O. D. Kivett, Greensboro.

FUNERAL OF C. G. Kivett, who died at his home, 810 Gregory stret, Monday night, will be held from the late home this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Services will be conducted by Rev. J. H. Bowman, of Liberty, and interment will be made in Green Hill cemetery.
