Mattie was the oldest of nine children born to Calvin Graves and Louise A. (Lambert) Kivett. She married Alpha Dennis McMasters in 1898 and they were the parents of five children: Calvin Charm, Lola F., Rettie Oneta, Margie V., and Clarence Basil.

Funeral Will Be
Conducted Friday

The funeral service for Mrs. Mattie McMasters, age 55, of 928 Gregory street, who died at her residence Wednesday night, will be held at First Pilgrim Holiness church at 2:30 o'clock Friday afternoon.
The service will be conducted by Rev. R. I. Whitley, pastor of Glenwood Baptist church, and Rev. F. R. Cooper, pastor of Franklinville Pilgrim Holiness church. Interment will follow in Green Hill cemetery.
Mrs. McMasters had been a member of Glenwood Methodist church for a number of years. Her husband, A. D. McMasters died several years ago.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. J. C. Causey and Mrs. Howard Mann, of Greensboro, and Mrs. Walter Lee, of Jamestown; two sons, Rev. C. C. McMasters and C. B. McMasters, of Greensboro; her mother, Mrs. C. G. Kivett, of Greensboro; one sister, Mrs. C. A. Bivens of Burlington; four brothers, L. F. Kivett, of Graham, and O. D., V. G. and P. C. Kivett of Greensboro.

Dies At Home On Gregory Street

Mrs. Mattie McMasters, 56, died suddenly at her residence 928 Gregory street, last night about 9:30 o'clock. Members of her family said she apparently had been in her usual good health.
Mrs. McMasters had been a member of Glenwood Methodist church for a number of years. Her husband A. D. McMasters, died three years ago.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. J. C. Causey, and Mrs. Howard Mann, Greensboro and Mrs. Walter Lee, Jamestown; two sons, Rev. C. C. McMasters and C. B. McMasters, Greensboro; her mother, Mrs. C. G. Kivett, Greensboro; one sister, Mrs. C. A. Bivens, Burlington; four brothers, L. P. Kivett, Graham, and Greensboro. Mrs. McMasters also leaves a number of grandchildren.
Funeral plans had not been completed last night.
