William served in Co F, 26th ILL. I nfantry. After the war he came back to Homer, IL. and met and married Mary Jane Curecie in IL. This union was blessed with these known children, James C., William R. and John L., Ellen, Lewis Edward "Bud" and Mary H. Brown.
The 1870 US Census shows William working for the RR, the 1880 US Census shows him working as a laborer. After his wife, Mary Jane died, he made his home with his son William R. but his son died and he stayed on with his daughter in-law Lucinda Brown and her 11 children, the 12th child Flossie Marie Brown had died at age 2 years.
