John Beide, 79, a lifelong Quad-City resident, died about 10 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's Hospital in East St. Louis, where he was admitted ten hours earlier. He had been a patient in area nursing homes the past 4 1/2 years.
Born in Mitchell, Mr. Beide had resided in Granite City since 1913, and had lived at 2405 Madison avenue for many years before entering the nursing homes. He was a retired employee of American Steel Foundries and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Mr. Beide, who had never been married, leaves a brother, Arthur Beide, and two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Zimmer and Mrs. Clara Warden, all of Granite City.
Requiem High Mass will be held at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery near Edwardsville.
