Mrs. Leatha Batchlor Moss, 97, died Monday, March 24, 2003, at home.
A native of Cherokee County, S.C., she was employed at Patterson Greenhouse for over 40 years. She was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church, nursery caregiver for several generations of Christian children. She was well known for her baking and for giving her baked goods to her friends both new and old.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Alexander and Unah Byers Batchlor; her husband, Will Lloyd Moss and seven brothers and sisters.
She is survived by a daughter, Johnsie M. Birr of Orlando, Fla.; a brother, James Oats Batchlor of Blacksburg, S.C.; five sisters and a brother-in-law, Flossie Allen of Gaffney, S.C., Elsie Peterson, Wilma Porter White, Thelma Philbeck, and Catherine and J.B. Borders all of Blacksburg; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at Elizabeth Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
