Myrtle Mae Claypool, 92 of Bruin, died at 1:30 p.m. Sunday [15 Mar 1998] at Clarview Nursing Home, and Rehabilitation Center, near Sligo. For several years she made her home with her granddaughter, Mrs. Frank (Mary Jane) Ealy of Bruin. Born in Clarion County, Sept. 29, 1905, she was the daughter of Hays Richard and Katherine (Lowers) Ace. She attended the Fairview United Methodist Church and was a homemaker. Surviving are three sons, Gilbert "Bunt" Clatpoole of Butler, Howard "Jake" Claypoole of Mahoningtown, PA. and Charles Claypoole of Butler; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Boofer of Butler; three brothers, John Ace pf Kemai, Alaska, and Charles and Leonard Ace, both of Chicora; four sisters, Mrs. Marie Timblin of Ridgeville, Mrs. Dorothy Merchant and Mrs. Blakney (Jean) Scott, both of Petrolia, and Mrs. Bertha Stewart of Akron, Ohio; 33 grandchildren; 90 great-grandchildren, 46 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Her husband, Howard D. Claypoole, whom she married Feb 26, 1923, in Butler, died Jan. 28, 1998 [typo in obituary as it should be 1988]. She also was preceded in death by two daughters, four grandchildren, four brothers and three sisters.
Friends of Myrtle Mae Claypoole, who died Sunday, March 15, 1998, will be received at Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home, Petrolia, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday [18 Mar 1998] at the funeral home with the Rev. Rick Bowser, pastor of Fairview United Methodist Church, and Andrew Claypoole officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia.
