Alexander L. Kettle, 54, Rte. 3, Edgerton, died Wednesday after suffering a heart attack. He was reported dead on arrival at Stoughton Community Hospital at 11:30 a.m.
The son of Cornelius and Julia Schumacher Kettle, he was born in Doland, S.D., Oct. 19, 1905, and was married in Rockford Nov. 24, 1923, to Margaret Fisher. A World War II veteran, he served in the Navy 26 months and was a former member of the 192nd Tank Battalion and the Red Arrow Club. He was a steeplejack by trade. He had lived in the rural Edgerton area for eight years.
Survivors are his wife; four sons, Donald, of Whitewater, Gerald, of Edgerton, Arthur, of Janesville, and Neil, at home; 11 grandchildren; five brothers, George and Walter, Janesville, Cornelius and Ralph, Rte. 3, Edgerton and Donald, Rte. 2, Milton Junction; three sisters, Mrs. Silas Keller, Mrs. Godfrey Aegerter and Mrs. Fred Vobian, all of Janesville.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Overton Funeral Home, the Rev. Arlin Adams, St. John's Lutheran Church, officiating, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
