Lydia Peden was born to Alexander Peden and Abigail Walton. She grew up with her half sibling Thomas and her other siblings, Ann, Obadiah, Jesse, Darius, Joseph, Rachel (married John Brown), Alexander and Margaret.

Quaker information tells that Lydia Peden and her two minor sisters Rachel and Margaret, received a transfer certificate from Westland Monthly Meeting to Short Creek M. Meeting in Ohio and accepted in 1825. This is the same year their father Alexander died. These 3 sisters went to Tyler Co. WV, where their cousins, lived, (Obediah Peden/Paden's children.)

Lydia married Noble Stewart on Nov. 9th, 1825, in Tyler Co. WV. This union was blessed with five children and possibly others were born before these known children, John b. 1829, Elizabeth b. 1834, Charles b. 1836, Anna b. 1840, d. May 25, 1857 and Alexander Stewart, b. 1843.

I presume Lydia died in 1843 as her spouse remarried on June 20, 1844, to Abigail Venham. Someone transcribed Abigail's name as Penham as they misinterpreted the V. as a P. Other Venham's lived in Tyler County and no Penham's. Noble and Abigail are shown with five children born after 1844, Rebecca b. 1845, Spencer b. 1846, d. Apr. 10, 1856, George b. 1847 and Ray Stewart b. 1849 and Wilson Martin Stewart b. 1855.
