ROBERT GAGE FETED ON 91ST BIRTHDAY

Robert Gage, long-time Ellensburg resident, celebrated his 91st birthday Wednesday, with the help of Haven House Nursing Home friends, and family. Gage, born in 1880 in Texas, came to Ellensburg with his parents in 1885. He has made his home in the valley since that time. In 1906 he married Beuna Riggs, in Seattle. According to his daughter, Mrs. Ellen Crawford, Gage has done 'a little bit of everything, as a general laborer and farm hand. Mrs. Gage died in 1970 and he became a resident of Haven House in February of this year. The Gage's had 14 children, 12 still living. An even number of boys and girls, all of whom reside in Washington state, were born to the family. The oldest son is now 64, and the youngest 38. "Dad has a 'bunch of grandchildren' " said Mrs. Crawford, "and many great grandchildren. He even has a couple great great grandchildren. Gage's parents homesteaded the Gage ranch, in the Colockum area.

Robert F. Gage Sr., 93, died Wednesday at a local nursing home. He was born July 15, 1880 in Denton County, Tex. and came to Ellensburg with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Reese Gage in 1885 in a covered wagon.

On July 31, 1906, he was married to Buena Riggs in Seattle. She preceded him in death Nov. 14, 1969. He was employed by a number of ranchers in the valley until his retirement, and made his home at 606 N. Pacific before entering the nursing home in 1970.

He is survived by six sons, Harold, Gresham, Ore., Clifford, Robert F. Gage, Jr., and Seth, all of Ellensburg, George, Chehalis, and Fred, Tonasket; five daughters, Mrs. Tressa Graham and Mrs. Ethel Kinkade, both Ellensburg, Mrs. Ester VanDeGrift, Sedro Wooley, Mrs. Betty Churchill, Steilacoom, and Mrs. Ellen Crawford, Kittitas; 37 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mearl Frost, Port Angeles and Mrs. Pearl Guidice, Palm Springs, Calif.; a brother, German Gage, Yakima.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday in Evenson Chapel. The Rev. Albert Sweet will officiate and burial will follow at the IOOF Cemetery.
