Bio

I have been doing genealogy and researching my ancestors for over 50 years. I have always loved puzzles and I am amazed at all of the interesting information I have located for my family.

I used to take my vacations and go around to all the old court houses and cemeteries back in Iowa where I lived and took well over 1500 photos of gravestones (not only of my family but also of others buried in the Iowa cemeteries.) Most of those photos have been added here on Find A Grave by myself or by my cousin, Shelli Steedman, but I have many more to work on. I no longer reside in Iowa, but now live in Colorado.

It looks like I have a ton of Memorials. However, the total is a combination of my own Memorials and the Memorials I took over management of for my cousin, Shelli Steedman. She became very ill and was not able to maintain her Memorials so I stepped in to help her out. We share a lot of the same ancestors plus each of us have our own different ancestors on the other sides of our families.

When I moved to Colorado I purchased Birth, Death, Marriage, and Funeral Home listings, for Mahaska County, Iowa directly from Keo-Mah Genealogy Society in Oskaloosa, Iowa. I also have Cemetery listings for some of the cemeteries in Mahaska County, Iowa and some from other counties in Iowa. I am more than happy to do look-ups and help if I can.

My family lines are COOK, WOLFE, ROBBINS and NEVINS.

I also translated all of the WPA Cemetery listings for Mahaska County, Iowa prior to them being put on-line. These records are from the volunteers that visited all of the Iowa cemeteries and transcribed whatever information they were able to obtain from the gravestones many years ago.

Any additional information you can add to my Memorials is greatly appreciated and I am happy to make changes to add or correct those Memorials that I manage and maintain. I am also more than happy to transfer any Memorials that are not my family and/or ancestors.
