James German Gage, 90, member of a pioneer Kittitas Valley family, died May 9 in a Yakima Nursing home. He resided at 1402 Fairbanks Ave. in Yakima. He would have been 91 next week.

Gage was born May 16, 1886, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Reese Bowen Gage, on their homestead at the mouth of Colockum Canyon. He worked as a sheep shearer for many years throughout the Northwest, until retirement 20 years ago, then made his home in Yakima.

Survivors include his wife Margaret; one son, Ace Gage of Ellensburg; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Guidice of Hemet, Calif., and Mrs. Merle Frost of Port Orchard; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ann Bodenhamer; one granddaughter; two great granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews in Ellensburg. A daughter, Bonnie, preceded him in death in 1951.

A Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Shaw and Sons Funeral Home in Yakima. Funeral will be at 1 p.m., Thursday at Shaw and Sons, with burial to follow at Calvary Gardens Cemetery.
