Clifford S. Gage was born in Ellensburg May 16, 1915. He passed away May 3, 2016, just shy of his 101st birthday. He grew up in Ellensburg with his six brothers and seven sisters. He loved and contested in local rodeos, and attended the Ellensburg Rodeo every year since it started in 1923.

His parents, Robert and Buena Gage lived near the rodeo grounds while it was being built and Cliff often recalled the memory of the big pot of beans cooking in their backyard for the fellows working to build the grounds. Little did he know, one of them, George Ferguson, would be his future father-in-law.

He married Phyllis Rhe Ferguson June 6, 1935 and they celebrated 75 years together before Phyllis passed in December 2010.

Cliff was one of the original members of the Kittitas County Calf Roping Club. He was very a very active member of the Grange and served as Deputy for Kittitas County. He also belonged to the Odd Fellows and the Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his daughter, Ruth Ann Olney and his daughter-in-law, Patricia Gage. Survivors also include his two brothers, Fred of Tonasket and Seth of Ellensburg, and his two sisters, Esther Van de Grift of Sedro-Woolley and Ellen Crawford of Kittitas. He has three grandsons, Justin and Steve Gage and Reece Olney, and one granddaughter, Amanda Roberson. He has eleven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis, his son, Steve, and grandson Bryan Olney. Also his parents, his brothers, Harrel, Robert (Bob) Jr., George and John, his sisters, Tressa Graham, Ethel Kinkade, Peggy Robinson, Betty Churchill and baby sister Marian Gage.

Visitation services will be held at Steward Williams Tribute Center on Friday, May 6, 2016 from 3-7 PM. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 11:00 AM at IOOF Cemetery in Ellensburg.
