Brite Harris was the son of James Riley and Lulia Kiersey Harris.
He grew up and attended school in Waverly where he was a member of the Roman Catholic Church.
Brite entered the U. S. Army in 1944, assigned to the Rhineland Campaign during WWII. During his 30 year military career, Staff Sergeant Harris served tours of duty all over the world. For his dedicated and faithful service to his country, he was awarded the Europe-Africa-Middle East Campaign Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star - Germany, Bronze Star - Central Europe, WWII Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, Marksman (Cabine), Marksman (Rifle M-1), Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Serivce Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, Korean Service Medal with 4 bronze service stars and 4 Overseas Bars.
After retiring from the military, Brite worked for 12 years at Fort Leonard Wood as the Service Supervisor. He enjoyed fishing, country music and playing the harmonica. He mostly enjoyed family gatherings, especially cookouts.
Military honors were provided by the United States Army of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
