Edward Julius Nordtome, 88, formerly of Kalispell, Montana, died August 21, 1990, of natural causes at the home of his son in Glendale, Arizona. He was born December 14, 1901 at Kalispell, son of Robert and Carrie Sneen Nordtome. He was married to Amanda Rocks August 25, 1926, in Kalispell. The Nordtome's opened Eddy's Meat Market on 2nd Street West in Kalispell and later bought Kalispell Meat Market, later renamed Eddy's Market. They sold the business in 1955 and moved to the Silver Buckle Ranch south of Kalispell which they owned since 1941. They also operated Silver Buckle Livestock & Transport Company and Big Sky Rodeo Company. They also opened the Silver Buckle Ski Area, out of which developed the Kalispell Ski Club. Another interest was the S-7 Riding Ranch Stable. Mr.Nordtome retired in 1970 but still owned the ranch, as well as another Silver Buckle Ranch in Arizona. His first wife Amanda died in 1978. In 1984, he left Kalispell to live with his son in Arizona. He was a member of the Kalispell Elks Lodge and the First Presbyterian Church. Surviving family members include one son, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be August 27 at 2 p.m. at the Weatherford Chapel. Burial will follow at Glacier Memorial Gardens, Kalispell, Montana.
