The fifth child and third son born to Enoch Hill and Rachel Jane (Kimberling) Hill was born on January 19, 1876, probably at Chestnut Orchard, near Rock Castle, Jackson County, West Virginia. When he was six months of age he left West Virginia with his parents and family for Kansas. Where the family first lived when arriving in Kansas is not known. It was somewhere in the eastern part of Kansas in the Flint hill country around Cottonwood Falls, Kansas.

The following from The Hutchinson News paper, Odus Grant Hill, NICKERSON - Odus Grant Hill, 89, died Sunday at Grace Hospital, Hutchinson, after a longlliness. Born Jan. 19, 1876, in Jackson County, W. Va., he married Flora Ann Brooks July 9, 1898, at Hutchinson. She died in 1956. A farmer, he retired in 1941, moved to Nickerson and then to Hutchinson six years ago He had lived In Reno County since childhood. Member: First Methodist Church, Nickerson.
Survivors: Daughters, Mrs. Ethel Slifer, McPherson; Mrs. Bessie King, 1400 East 23rd; Mrs. Stella Thompson, 217 East F.; Mrs. Edna Vedder, 527 West Sherman; Mrs. Ruby Farthing, 15 South Cleveland; Mrs. Mildred Swonger, Dodge City; sons, George, Cope, Colo.; Ralph and Frank, Nickerson; 45 grandchildren; 90 great grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildern. Prceded in death were daughter Lillie Mae Hill (1910-1940), son Roy Odus Hill (1911-1913), and Infant Son (1902-1902) Funeral: 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Lamb Funeral Home Chapel, Nickerson; Rev. Howard Smothers. Burial: Wildmead Cemetery, Nickerson.
