Mrs. Mattie Roberts
Mrs. Mattie E. Roberts, 76, of 1656 Redwood Drive died at 7 a.m. Monday at Holston Valley Community Hospital after an extended illness.
Born in Scott County, she spent most of her life there but had been a resident of Kingsport for the last year. She attended the Baptist Church.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. W. N. Wilkey, Kingsport; Mrs. George Marcum, Kingsport; Mrs. Rex Trent, Rogersville; Mrs. Edna Crumley, Knoxville; Mrs Jess Huckleby, Knoxville; three sons, Simon Roberts, Weber City, Va.; Kay Roberts, Blackwater, Va.; Lloyd Roberts, Kingsport; 35 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; two sister, Mrs. Della Good, Kingsport; Mrs. Pearl Lockhart, Jacksonville, Fla.; and one brother, Lloyd Bloomer, Miss.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Purchase Methodist Church in Scott County. Rev. Frank McCann and Rev. Will R. Mendenhall will officiate.
Burial will be in the Necessary Cemetery.
The body will remain at the Carter's Chapel Funeral Home until one hour before services. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight.
