GATE CITY -- Kay Roberts, 72, Route 3, Gate City, Va., died late Sunday evening (June 12, 1988) at Holston Valley Hospital & Medical Center.
A lifelong resident of Scott County, Va., he attended the Baptist church and was retired from Armstrong Construction.
Mr. Roberts was farmer and a U.S. Navy veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Mamie Lee Akers Roberts; four daughters, Mrs. Haskel (Sue) Bledsoe, Duffield, Va., Mrs. Jim (Kathy) Hand, Blackwater, Va., Mrs. Bradley (Mirtuce) Vaughan and Mrs McDaniel (Loudema) Hilton, both of Kingsport; three sons, Lloyd (Bud) Roberts, Union, S.C., Eunice K. Roberts and Dwight Roberts, both of Blackwater, Va.; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Jackie (Joyce Ann) Shelton, Kingsport; two stepsons, Robert L. Fletcher and Elmer P. Fletcher, both of Kingsport; 17 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Bert Wilkey, Audrey Marcum, both of Kingsport, and Mrs. Edna Crumley, Knoxville; one brother, Lloyd Roberts, Kingsport.
Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Gate City Funeral Home or anytime at the residence.
Services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Lester Smith and The Rev. Garry Hood officiating.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Burial will be in Childress Cemetery.
