Luther served in the U. S. Army in WWI. He married Maggie Bell. They had no children. Luther homesteaded 120 acres near Gooding, Idaho in 1944. After 12-13 years he moved to California. Here he raised race horses.
In 1967 Luther won the championship Quarter horse purse worth $111,300 at Las Alamitos, California track.
Luther died in March of 1980 at Clovis, California and is buried at the Hanford Cemetery, Kings County, California.
