Her mother Elvira died June 20, 1882. For reasons unknown to the family William Henry left Alabama and settled in Hill County, Texas. Here he married Lee (Willbanks) Burnum on December 21, 1888. Mattie at some point moved to Texas. She was very close to Lee Burnum.
In 1903 the family moved from Texas to Delhi, Beckham County, Oklahoma by covered wagon.
Mattie married Rob Gibson on December 11, 1904. They had two children, Darrel and Adelle. Mattie and Rob lived in Oklahoma most of their lives. Rob was a cotton gin operator and Mattie was a housewife.
Mattie died December 1, 1955 and is buried at Delhi Cemetery, Beckham County, Oklahoma with Rob.
