Carl played semi-pro baseball for the town of Spearman, Texas. He also received an award for athletics at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma August 17, 1925.
Carl married Francis Lowrance March 29, 1930. They had one child, Dolores Jean. Carl and Francis later divorced.
He and his youngest brother Roy went to Illinois for a time and worked in the oil fields. In 1949 Carl homesteaded on 81 acres in Lincoln County, Idaho near brothers Clay and Luther. Carl later moved to California, and in 1963 returned to Illinois where he died January 25, 1964.
Carl is buried at Delhi Cemetery, Beckham County, Oklahoma near his parents.
