Joseph H. Lake

Joseph Henry Lake was born in Marion, Iowa on Jan. 10, 1857, and died on May 2, 1942, at his home near Hebron, at the age of 85 years, 3 months and 22 days.
Mr. Lake lived in Iowa until 1900, then moved to North Dakota. In 1904 the family moved to Thayer county, Nebraska, and have lived on their farm three miles from Hebron since that time.
On Jan. 15, 1884, he was married to Mary McConologue. To this union were born five children, four sons and one daughter. Three sons have preceded him in death, two in infancy, and one son, Harry, died when he was sixteen years of age. Two children remain: Frank, of Hebron, and Alta Herrick of New York.
His faithful companion of 58 years survives him. Also left to mourn are the children, Frank and Alta; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two sisters, Mary Winterfield of Radcliff, Iowa, and Nell Winterfield of Woodstock, Minn., and three brothers, Will Lake of Iowa Falls, John Lake of Holden, Alberta, Canada, and J.S. Lake of Iowa Falls, Iowa, besides nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
The Funeral service was held at the Lake home by Rev. Arthur Monkman, Saturday afternoon at 3 o’clock. Interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery.
