Harrison’s family moved to Hardin county when he was only a few months old and we know very little about his early life other than he remained in his father’s house until at least 1885. In 1900 he is in Eddy county, North Dakota and his older brother, Joe, is staying with him. In 1904 the Kinkaid Act amended the Homestead Act and allowed the acquisition of up to 640 acres of non-irrigable land in 37 counties of the Nebraska Sandhills. Harrison is on his homestead near Woods Lake in eastern Cherry county in 1910 and 1920 and still unmarried.
Without access to family history, it is not known whether there was any contact between Harrison and his nephew, Frank Lake, who lived about 50 miles to the south and west, in Hooker county on his own homestead. Harrison shows up in the 1940 US census in Bayou Township, Ozark county, Missouri.
It is not known if Harrison died there in Missouri, only that he died on 11 July 1941 and his body is buried in Cottage cemetery in Hardin county, Iowa where many of his family members have also been laid to rest.
