Delilah Scott was the daughter of James Scott and Mary Wisehart Scott. She was born in Montgomery county, Indiana, and her family moved to Linn county, Iowa when she was three years old, by covered wagon. Her mother died when she was about twelve years old and her father remarried Mahulda Newton.

Delilah and Florentine were married 10 Apr 1856 and they were the parents of:
