Mrs. Mathis was born on May 5, 1925, in Georgetown County, a daughter of the late Ervin Davis and the late Ila Blakeley Davis. She was retired from International Paper Company.
She was survived by four children, Tressa "Star" (Bobby) Edwards, Berties "Buck" (Teressa) Odum, Cynthia "Cindy" Rogers, and Douglas "Ervin" (Laurie) Odum, all of Georgetown; a daughter–in–law, Julie Odum of Georgetown; 14 grandchildren, Gene Wilder, Tina Wilder, Kris Cooper, Tibbie Mathis, Bob Mathis, Fonda Odum, Shawn Cooper, Doug Odum, Alecia O'Donnell, Landon Small, Allen Odum, April Olin, Jarid Odum, and Alaina Odum; 22 great grandchildren; and a sister, Berniece Martin of Georgetown.
She was predeceased by a son, George Elwood Odum, five sisters, and four brothers.
Funeral services, officiated by Mr. Ralph Thompson, were Thursday, August 4, 2011, at the graveside in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Burial was directed by Graham Funeral Home.
