Anthony was the son of Michael & Theresa "Tracy" (Brackley) Amos and he grew up on a family farm in Portage Township, Wood County, OH. On October 26, 1882, Anthony was married to Nettie Heiste in Portage Township. Anthony & Nettie reportedly parented 11 children between the years of 1883 & 1902: Pearl Amos, Anthony Earl Amos, Terresa "Tracy" Amos, Fanny (a.k.a. "Fannie") L. Amos, James Amos, Ralph Wesley Amos, Mary Ellen Amos, M. Thornton Amos, Ovid O. Amos, Ervin R. "Stub" Amos, & Helena Amos. The "History of Wood County, Ohio" describes Anthony as "a farmer of Center Township."
