John was the son of Michael & Theresa "Tracy" (Brackley) Amos and he grew up on a family farm in Portage Township, Wood County, OH. On February 10, 1881, John was married to Margaret "Maggie" Steitz. John and Maggie parented four children between the years of 1882 & 1889: Michel (a.k.a. "Michael") Amos (also buried at Fish Cemetery), Catherine "Katie" M. Amos, Nellie Amos (also buried at Fish Cemetery), & Sadie "Omer" Amos. John Amos died at the age of 35 of "consumption" (tuberculosis) at his home on his Wood County family farm. John's obituary: "John Amos, on Saturday, September 26, after a long time suffering, death came to his relief. He leaves a wife and two children and a large circle of friends to mourn his loss. The funeral took place at the New Rochester Church, conducted by Rev. Hill."
