Charles was the son of Michael & Theresa "Tracy" (Brackley) Amos and he grew up on a farm in Portage Township, Wood County, OH. On July 3, 1885, Charles was married to Harriet "Hattie" Bell Heiste in Wood County. Charles & Harriett reportedly parented six children between the years of 1889 & 1906: Floyd Vernon Amos, Florence May Amos, Clinton Amos, Bert (a.k.a. "Burt") Amos, George Francis Amos, & Mildred B. Amos. The "History of Wood County, Ohio" describes Charles as "a farmer of Portage Township" and Charles can be found on the 1920 Federal Census living in Portage Township. He variously described his occupation as "farmer" and "livestock broker."
